VOL. 52 PROPHETIC BULLETIN NEWSLETTER SEPT. 2005 Dear Friends of Israel and “Or Tzion”, “Love is blind” is a popular expression describing that extreme love which “blinds” us to the truth of our beloved, often to our own detriment. Yet the “love of king and country” can be equally blinding. Unquestioning “blind” patriotism hinders us from recognizing – and addressing - our nation’s sins and errors, often to the detriment of our beloved nation and ourselves. G-d is the Creator, not a magician or “mother nature”! At His command His creation performs whatever He wills. Our earth could vanish with a mere blast of His nostrils! Yet the foolish and the proud men say in their heart, “There is no G-d! He will not call to account. We will do whatever we please, for He neither sees nor hears. Our tongue and our schemes shall prevail.”1
George Bush’s “claim to faith” has blinded many Christians to his ever-increasing pride and arrogance, by which he imposes his will and “vision” on others, intolerant of any disagreement. Like the kings of Judah who at first walked with G-d but ultimately became arrogant and boastful because of the might and glory of their kingdom, so has the power of the United States of America and the Presidency gone to George W. Bush’s head. He demanded that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon expell the settlers from Gush Kativ and Shomron, destroy their livelihood and their settlements built over 30 years, and give the land to Israel’s enemies, the Palestinians/Philistines. By the command of President Bush, in defiance of G-d's covenant, these fine people were rendered homeless, jobless refugees in their own Land2. And the Palestinians to whom Israel ceded the covenanted land, have maliciously destroyed the synagogues, gleefully desecrating all remains - including the Israeli flag - while celebrating the victory of their terror over the “Zionist coward”.
There is an aspect in these judgments, however, which has caught my attention: whenever America forces Israel to give up even more of her tiny land, G-d’s response is almost always IMMEDIATE. However, this is not so with the other nations and the Palestinians. As I wondered why, the following Scripture came to mind: “G-d disciplines those whom He loves, just as a father disciplines the son he loves.”3 G-d still LOVES America!!! He does not wish her destruction! He wants her to wake up! He wants her to walk humbly before Him and not pride herself in her power and wealth as though she had acquired it by her own wisdom and strength. Her abominable sins and deeds grieve Him, her oppressing Israel angers Him. Each punishment carries an unmistakable message: “Whatsoever you do to my people Israel and to my land shall be done to you! You are not dealing with mere men but with Me, the Holy One of Israel! It is I whom you are challenging! It is I whom you are defying, and My covenant by an oath, and my promises! I will not let it go unpunished, but you shall reap the fruit of your actions and suffer the consequences of your defiance. Nevertheless, I have not as yet removed my love and blessings from you.” But toward the Palestinians He is silent, as though
He does not see. He knows their plots, and lets them fill up the cup of
wrath until the day of their punishment, which He declared long ago by
the mouth of His prophets.
